  looking back at a few bethel threads and getting calls from many former friends last week about the assembly season, i reflected back on some of the assemblies of the past, particularly in the 80's and 90's.. do you remember beautiful sisters that just had the criteria of having a spiritual man.

  they would get a dorky pioneer / elder / ms and walk together at the assembly.

  everyone would wonder, "how the hel did that happen".

  The pathetic thing is "spirtiual gold-diggers". Girls who are only looking for a man based on his Watchtower resume and congregation title with little regard for anything else, just marrying a guy to be Mrs. Elder's Wife or Mrs. Pioneer Couple. In the WTS a woman means nothing more than the man she marries.

  These are the women I originally was refering too. They realize no kids and a AMC Pacer is not cool after about 10 years. Jah has really blessed their pioneering though. I remember a few dozen of these "spirtiual gold-diggers".

  Wonder what happended to these women. Sometimes the dork would cheat and she would get half of nothing. One sister told my wife her elder / PO husband ran off with a stripper and she supports him.

  When we attend Fire School in a small college town in Texas, many guys said, "I am going to go ugly early" This would guarantee a good time early and free up the rest of the night.

  Yes, it is a good thing, but entertaining nonetheless.

  She will have the fake smile and the "They are not looking at me are they". "Don't they know that he went to Bethel?"

  When in the org., it may be cool. In the real world, someone who is a professional tallk giver may be a negative. Not having the looks, makes it even harder.

  Just wonder if some of the women changed their minds.

  Looking back at a few Bethel threads and getting calls from many FORMER friends last week about the assembly season, I reflected back on some of the assemblies of the past, particularly in the 80's and 90's.

  Do you remember beautiful sisters that just had the criteria of having a spiritual man. They would get a dorky pioneer / elder / MS and walk together at the assembly. Everyone would wonder, "How the hel did that happen". A few weeks later, they would come to our hall and dorko would give a spell-binding talk.

  Do you know any of these individuals? Did they stay married?

  That was always the coolest part of the assembly, seeing the women (10-1 in the org.) CHASE the men (title / position). Looks and career did not matter, position in the org. did.

  i had a former co-worker go to the assembly yesterday, and he made an interesting comment.

  he drives a luxury car and was with his family.

  he was dressed in a dress shirt, no slacks, no tie.

  I'm not sure what you mean by nose rubbing. When I was a kid, rubbing noses was known as Eskimo kissing.

  However, if he wasn't wearing any pants (slacks), I am not surprised that people reacted.

  He said it was as if they were digging in it (gross)

  I assume you are right.

  He always was kinda weird. I know his grandfather is Greek, and you know what they say about the Greeks................

  i just bought a bottle of wine for an exjw's 30th that i am about to run off to.

  Not sure if it was a bane or a boon, I would have liked to have had sex many times as a teenager, instead of having a girl (at 21) ask me if I had done this before. Looking back, the very thought is extremely embarassing.

  Missing many school events because of a Friday night bookstudy. Not playing High school sports, despite having a great amount of talent.

  Nevertheless, I have a wife of 15 years, no known illigitimate children and never had an STD.

  College would have been nice as well.

  I had a former co-worker go to the assembly yesterday, and he made an interesting comment. He drives a luxury car and was with his family. He was dressed in a dress shirt, no slacks, no tie. As most men at church would dress.

  He said while driving to the event many rubbed their nose at him. On the freeway and at the event. He was cruising down the road, windows up and air on and people would casually rub their nose at him. This occurred at the event in the parking lot as well. It did not happen inside very much, but it did happen.

  Despite the fact that this appears to have come from mostly non-witnesses (freeway). He associates this practice with the organization. He said it is not common for him to have this happen to him.

  What does this signify? People think he stinks? They hate his car? They think he is ugly? He said he is not going back today and and it caused a big riff with his wife, and the elder who studies with him. That is obviously another issue, not of concern to me (him not going back), but please tell me what this non-verbal signifies?

  New date for Armegeddon???

  i must have missed this on my travels thru different x-dub sites, but i think i read something on here about their "new light" regarding the timing for armegeddon.

  since its been over 30 years since 1975, how do they predict armegeddon now?

  what do they tell new converts regarding the 1975 debacle?

  Really, really close! Think of something close - it's closer than that! Very close, very close indeed!

  This means, plus or minus a thousand years.

  Not sure how anyone can be so naive to believe this. Oh well, I was, but after many failed teachings, I have seen the light.

  An elder told me we are so close, they are selling military vechicles (hummers) to the public. When the trib. starts, they will take them for war.

  ...hummmm

  Everything is connected, now I see.

  MYSpace....How Do You REALLY feel about it?

  this is for all those parents of teens out there..... do you really want your child on myspace?.

  my 12 (almost 13) yr old opened her own acct without my permission....knowing full well i don't want her on it!!!.

  she gets to do a lot but she's starting to try to be a lot more independent from me and when it comes to the web, i am very careful.. anyone dealt with this one?.

  I trust my 13 YO. He has an account and we have no problems. He informs me of any issues all the time.

  Father's Day is Coming...

  i have been out for 2 years now.

  i have spoken once to my father who is a jw in that time.

  he said i would get a letter from him telling me where to 'straighten up', but it has never come.

  I never wished my dad a happy Father's Day and I still regret it a great deal.

  We were conditioned to think it was bad to tell a loved one, "Hey, I was thinking about you today, I love you" It is acceptable 364 days of the year, but on Father's Day, we are considered pagan.

  While we all wear bright diamond wedding rings. (Pagan symbol)

  Unfortunately, he will probably never speak to you unless he leaves or becomes gravely ill. Dialogue with you would jeopardize his salvation. Unfortunately, that is the sad reality of the situation.

  I would still do as suggested and attempt to contact him, just to say, "I love you Dad"
